Paperwork to ‘finalise’ to keep Du Toit

Pieter-Steph du Toit remains intent on staying in South Africa, but there is reportedly still paperwork to be finalised before this can be officially confirmed.

In a considerable development at the end of the week, rumours did the rounds in rugby circles on Friday to suggest Du Toit could in fact end up following through with a move overseas.

This came in contrast to the confirmation this website received on Thursday to say Du Toit had agreed to remain in South Africa until at least the end of the 2021 British & Irish Lions tour.

The latest on Friday seemed to suggest that while this remains Du Toit’s intention, the situation remains fluid, and there are elements of a new contract that need to be assured for him to confirm his commitment.

‘Pieter-Steph is staying at Western Province; there is just some paperwork to finalise and there may be one or two sticking points there,’ Swart told the Daily Maverick.

While French giants Montpellier have been regularly linked to a mega-money offer to Du Toit, president Mohed Altrad again stated on Friday there had been ‘no contact’ with the Springbok.
