SARugbymag.co.za looks back at the South African players who featured for their respective clubs in the PRO14 this past weekend.
– In a match dominated by South Africans, Munster thumped Treviso 31-17 to extend their unassailable lead at the top of the Conference B standings. Loosehead prop Keynan Knox scored one of Munster’s four tries, while scrumhalf Dewaldt Duvenhage and hooker Corniel Els dotted down for Treviso. Flank Chris Cloete, who was also in the Munster lineup, didn’t get on the scoresheet but was influential throughout the game. Locks Irne Herbst and Eli Snyman turned out for Treviso.
– Leinster suffered just their second league defeat of the season when they lost 24-19 to the Ospreys. Former Cheetahs captain Shaun Venter and prop Tom Botha turned out for the Ospreys who secured third place in Conference A with this result. For Leinster, the loss serves as a break in momentum a week before they square off against Munster in the final.
– Playing in just his fourth game for Ulster, hooker Bradley Roberts produced a strong display and was rewarded with a try in their 49-3 win over Zebre. The result means Ulster finish the season in second position in Conference A, seven log points behind finalists Leinster.
