Pro14 under threat amid coronavirus

The future financial stability of the Pro14 competition could be threatened by the possible withdrawal of a lucrative investor in the times of the coronavirus.

Luxembourg-based CVC Capital Partners had agreed in principle to take a £120-million stake in the five-nation tournament, but the Daily Mail reports that they be forced to re-evaluate the risk and return on investment.

The Pro14 is one of several competitions that has been severely disrupted due to Covid-19, and could face serious setbacks from sponsors and TV partners if they cannot finish the current season, including the playoffs and final.
