The Sharks reportedly received R17-million from Racing 92 to release Springbok skipper Siya Kolisi to join the French Top 14 club.
Kolisi, who joined the Sharks in 2021, will head to France after the 2023 Rugby World Cup and according to Sunday newspaper Rapport, for the largest ever transfer fee in SA rugby.
ICYMI – Siya to join Racing from Sharks
The Bok skipper signed a five-year extension with the Durban outfit in 2022, but it is understood that the transfer fee paid by Racing covers what the Sharks paid Kolisi over the past two years.
Meanwhile, Rapport has suggested that incoming Racing coach Stuart Lancaster also wants to sign Bok and DHL Stormers flyhalf Manie Libbok.
But, according to the newspaper, Stormers coach John Dobson is eager to extend the 25-year-old playmaker’s current contract to 2027.
