Wallabies utility back Kurtley Beale will join French giants Racing 92 on a two-year deal.
The 31-year-old Beale, who can play flyhalf, centre and fullback, has won 92 Test caps for Australia since his debut in 2009 and amassed 156 points during that period.
Beale returned to Australia after a year at English club Wasps in 2017, but struggled at the Waratahs before this Vodacom Super Rugby season was suspended in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis.
Racing’s sporting director, Yannick Nyanga, announced Beale’s signing in a squad update on social media.
‘We have two premium signings who will bring some experience and their ability,’ Nyanga said. ‘We’ve tried to mix youth and experience in positions where we haven’t managed to pull through from our academy.’
Beale will also be joined by six-Test Wallabies utility forward Luke Jones, who will leave the Melbourne Rebels for a second stint in France following his three-year spell with Bordeaux between 2016 and 2019.
Tonga prop Ben Tameifuna and former France fullback Brice Dulin are among the players to leave the side, while Fiji flyhalf Ben Volavola will join second-tier Perpignan on a one-season loan deal.
Former New Zealand back rower Chris Masoe will leave his position as defence coach, to be replaced by ex-France hooker Dimitri Szarzewski.
