A World Cup winner has been added to the Springbok squad for the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series against the All Blacks.
SARugbymag.co.za broke the news of Deon Fourie’s call-up on Sunday, following his outstanding performance for the Stormers against the All Blacks at Cape Town Stadium on Friday night.
On Monday, SA Rugby confirmed the 39-year-old, who turns 40 on 25 September, will join up with the Boks in Joburg on Tuesday morning.
Having beaten Argentina in Buenos Aires on Saturday, Rassie Erasmus’ squad have turned their attention to the first All Blacks Test at Ellis Park on 22 August.

Fourie produced an extraordinary performance in his first appearance since suffering knee ligament damage against Ulster in May.
Starting at openside flank, he played 61 minutes as the Stormers went toe to toe with the All Blacks, before the visitors pulled away to win 38-21.
Fourie scored a try from four carries, won a game-high two turnovers and completed 14 of his 15 tackle attempts.

Fourie has earned 13 Test caps since becoming the oldest player to make his Springbok debut, at 35, in 2022.
His most recent appearance in green and gold came in the 2023 World Cup final against the All Blacks in Paris, when he was forced into action at hooker after Bongi Mbonambi’s early injury and played 77 minutes of the 12-11 triumph.
