Former Wales wing Louis Rees-Zammit’s NFL dream is still alive.
In January last year, Rees-Zammit made the shock announcement that he would be leaving rugby to join the NFL’s International Player Pathway.
Two months later, he signed a three-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs but failed to make their 53-man NFL roster for the 2024 season.
Rees-Zammit then joined the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad, and has now signed an active roster deal with them that will see him go through the off-season schedule in an attempt to make the final 53-man roster for the 2025 NFL season.

“I’m excited to extend my stay in Jacksonville by signing for another year,” the 24-year-old said. “While I know it was a tough season on the field for the team, I think I made some great progress with my own game, and I’m looking forward to continuing the hard work and advancing my skills even more, and believe that Jacksonville is the place for me to do that.
“The future looks bright with the Jaguars with the appointment of Coach [Liam] Coen and the rest of the staff, and honestly, I can’t wait to get back to it.”
