SARugbymag.co.za looks back at the South African players who featured for their respective clubs in the French Top 14 this past weekend.

    – FC du Plessis and his Toulon teammates slumped to an agonising 16-14 defeat by Bayonne, despite the latter team conceding three yellow cards. Outside centre Sean Robinson featured for Bayonne off the bench.

    – Flank Jacobus van Tonder starred for Clermont as he scored one of eight tries in their 52-16 demolition of Agen. South African-born Japanese fullback Kotaro Matsushima also started and scored for the winning team.

    – Toulouse, with Cheslin Kolbe at flyhalf, beat La Rochelle 14-11 to hand the hosts their first home defeat in two years. The result also has Toulouse leapfrogging La Rochelle at the top of the standings. Kolbe played alongside fellow Springbok Rynhardt Elstadt, while Raymond Rhule started on the wing for La Rochelle, who are now second on the log.
