Samoa’s Gordon Langkilde has pleaded guilty to assault charges following an altercation with several Wales players during the Sevens World Cup.
The incident occurred following Wales’ win against Samoa on 22 July and resulted in three Wales players – Tom Williams, Luke Morgan and Ben Roach – suffering facial injuries.
The 22-year-old Langkilde has been ordered to pay compensation and banned from all rugby for a year.
He has also been ordered to write a letter of apology to the victims, complete 100 hours of community service, donate $2,500 (R36,000) to charity and complete an anger-management course.
World Rugby has kept Langkilde on suspension while it carries out a separate investigation.
