Jason Jenkins, the Sharks’ latest Springbok signing, is sidelined for up to 12 weeks with a knee injury.
The towering lock, who joins the reigning Challenge Cup champions from Leinster next season, sustained the injury during last week’s Champions Cup final in London.
Jenkins was one of several new recruits announced by the Sharks in March, with Bok world champions Andre Esterhuizen and Trevor Nyakane also moving to Durban.

“Thankfully, no surgery was needed,” Jenkins told Sunday newspaper Rapport. “I damaged my PCL and am wearing a knee brace.
“Rehabilitation has started, and I should be ready for pre-season.”
Jenkins was the sole South African in the intense final against Toulouse, which Leinster lost at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. “The atmosphere was electric, the loudest I’ve ever heard,” he shared. “Sadly, the result didn’t go our way.”
