Currently based at French club Stade Francais, Koch will return to South Africa for the first time since 2016, when he completes the move to Durban in June. After starting his career with the Pumas and DHL Stormers, Koch moved to England with Saracens, where he spent a successful five seasons.
The 32-year-old joined Wasps last year, but was among the players and staff made redundant after the English club entered administration.
The Sharks were reportedly keen on Koch as they are set to lose two of their main tighthead props at the end of the season. Thomas du Toit’s move to English Premiership side Bath was also confirmed on Wednesday, while French side Bordeaux have reportedly convinced Carlu Sadie to move to the Top 14.
