Simelane back at centre

Wandisile Simelane celebrates a try Wandisile Simelane

Wandisile Simelane and Lyle Hendricks will start in the Junior Springboks midfield for the third-place playoff against New Zealand in Béziers on Sunday.

Simelane switches from the left wing to centre, while Hendricks replaces Rikus Pretorius, who is nursing a contusion to his leg.

The other changes to coach Chean Roux’s starting team are at scrumhalf where Rewan Kruger partners up with flyhalf David Coetzer, while Ben-Jason Dixon starts at blindside flank and hooker Daniel Jooste returns after recovering from a rib injury.

On the bench, lock Ruan Vermaak will provide cover at lock and Manuel Rass at centre.

The match kicks off at 4:30pm at Stade de la Méditerranée and will be broadcast live on SuperSport 5.

It will be followed by the World Rugby U20 Championship final between France and England. 

Junior Springboks – 15 Gianni Lombard, 14 Tyrone Green, 13 Wandisile Simelane, 12 Lyle Hendricks, 11 Sihle Njezula, 10 David Coetzer, 9 Rewan Kruger, 8 Muller Uys, 7 Ben-Jason Dixon, 6 Phendulani Buthelezi, 5 Ruan Nortje, 4 Salmaan Moerat (c), 3 Sazi Sandi, 2 Daniel Jooste, 1 Alulutho Tshakweni.
Subs: 16 Schalk Erasmus, 17 Leon Lyons, 18 Asenathi Ntlabakanye, 19 Ruan Vermaak, 20 Dian Schoonees, 21 Jack Hart, 22 Lubabalo Dobela, 23 Manuel Rass.
