There aren’t many punters ready to bet on New Zealand being stopped at the World Cup but local bookmakers suggest that the Springboks are the biggest threat to stop Kiwi domination.
The fierce rivals met in pool play with the All Blacks running out 23-13 winners. While many permutations exist when it comes to deciding the probable quarter-final lineup, especially with Japan’s shock win over Ireland, the bookies have backed the Springboks to not only see off the threat in the last eight but also to emerge from the final four to battle the All Blacks for the title.
The latest odds from Betcoza have the Springboks narrowly ahead of England but some way in front of Wales.
Irish hopes have been pushed to fifth favourite ahead of Australia.
