The Stormers and Vodacom Bulls have split the past 10 games between them in all competitions as the historic north-south rivalry resumes in a Vodacom United Rugby clash in Cape Town on Saturday.
While the two teams have each won five of the past 10 north-south derbies, it is the Bulls who have a five-point advantage in points scored during this period, winning by an average margin of 26-21.
However, the Stormers go into this game having won the last meeting in memorable fashion, scoring a late try to snatch a 30-26 victory at Loftus Versfeld.
Prior to that game, the Bulls were unbeaten in four home games against the Stormers, making the win a significant moment for the Cape side.
The last time the Stormers met the Bulls in Cape Town was in the PRO14 Rainbow Cup last year, when Jake White’s team came away with a 20-16 win.
As it stands in the URC, the Stormers (43 points) and Bulls (42) occupy sixth and seventh place, respectively. A win for the either team would put them in the driving seat of the South African conference, ahead of home games against the likes of Leinster and Glasgow Warriors.
