Swys de Bruin insists he will honour his Lions contract, which expires at the end of next year’s Super Rugby campaign.
De Bruin replaced Johan Ackermann as head coach in July 2017, signing a two-year deal. Like his predecessor, De Bruin has now led the Lions to the Super Rugby final – the team’s third in a row.
However, after assisting the Springboks during the mid-year Tests against Wales and England, speculation is rife that De Bruin could be joining the Springbok set-up permanently and as early as this year’s Rugby Championship. But the 58-year-old has shut down the rumours with conviction.
‘My contract expires after next year’s Super Rugby competition and I intend to honour it,’ he told Netwerk24.
