Madosh Tambwe will make his return to his former home ground Loftus Versfeld when he starts for Bordeaux Begles against the Vodacom Bulls in the Champions Cup clash on Saturday.
Tambwe was named to start on the right wing for the final round match, which will be decisive in determining qualification for the round of 16, as well as home-ground advantage in the playoffs.
The 26-year-old, who has scored four tries in six games for Bordeaux this season, returns to the ground he once called home, having dotted down 12 times in 27 matches for the Vodacom Bulls between 2021 and 2022.
Tambwe is one of two former South African-based players in Bordeaux’s starting lineup. Tighthead prop Carlu Sadie, who represented the Lions and Sharks, also gets a start in a team captained by France loosehead Jefferson Poirot.
Other notable names in Bordeaux’s lineup include Tonga lock Adam Coleman, Wallabies loose forward Pete Samu, French flank Marko Gazzotti – named U20 Championship Player of the Tournament in South Africa – Australian flyhalf Zach Holmes and France wing Louis Bielle-Biarrey, who scored four tries at the 2023 World Cup.
