Tomane’s Brumbies career over

Joe Tomane will not play for the Brumbies again after breaking his leg in a club rugby match last Saturday.

The winger played for Uni-Norths in his first competitive game back since suffering an unrelated knee injury in April, when he fractured the tibia bone in the same leg. Scans later confirmed the 26-year-old broke his leg and he was sidelined for the rest of the season.

Tomane was set to boost the Brumbies ahead of the Super Rugby playoffs, before heading to Jake White's Montpellier at the end of the tournament.

'Unfortunately these things happen in rugby and I won’t get to farewell everyone the way I would’ve liked, but that’s how it goes sometimes. The Brumbies mean the world to me and I’ll now get to join our fans in cheering the boys on for the rest of the season,' said Tomane.

'I believe this team has what it takes to win the title and I’ll be doing everything I can to help out the players, in whatever way I can. I cannot speak highly enough of how much I admire the players I have played alongside over the past five years,' he added.

The Brumbies have to beat the Force in the last round of the competition to advance to the playoffs.
