Ma’a Nonu and Scarra Ntubeni will add experience to the Investec Champions Cup and EPCR Challenge Cup campaigns of Toulon and the Sharks, respectively.
The veteran reinforcements have been registered for the resumption of the European cup competitions, starting with the round of 16 next week.
Nonu, an 103-Test All Black, rejoined Toulon in February as a medical joker, bringing his blend of power and precision back to a club where he won the French Top 14 in 2016. Now 42, he remains a mentor in midfield, having recently played in Major League Rugby.
In Durban, the Sharks have turned to Ntubeni for cover at hooker after injuries to Fez Mbatha and Dylan Richardson.
A Stormers stalwart with one Springbok cap, the 34-year-old Ntubeni offers expertise in a crucial position. Loosehead prop Dian Bleuler and scrumhalf Juan Loots have also been added.
The Vodacom Bulls, meanwhile, have included locks Jaco Grobbelaar and Dylan de Leeuw. A former Junior Bok and up-and-coming Western Province talent, De Leeuw (23) has returned to the Republic after a spell with Zebre Parma in Italy.
