Ulster’s plans to bounce back from a disappointing season are in action as they have fortified the pack with a Test-calibre forward.
According to The Roar, 36-Test Wallabies prop Angus Bell will join Ulster for the 2026 season, taking advantage of a sabbatical clause in his four-year deal with Rugby Australia. The 24-year-old has reportedly informed teammates of his decision to head overseas, opting for a short-term stint with the Irish club.

Bell follows former Wallabies Justin Harrison and Christian Lealiifano who previously made the move to Kingspan Stadium. His value as a dominant ball-carrier and scrum asset are specifically what Ulster will be hoping Bell uses to replicate the impact of double World Cup-winning former Springbok Steven Kitshoff, who played 14 matches for the Belfast club during the 2023-24 season.
Ulster finished 14th in the URC this season and Bell’s arrival is aimed at improving on their 7-11 record in 2025-26. He will miss the Waratahs’ 2026 Super Rugby campaign before returning to Australia to suit up for the Wallabies.
