Varsity Cup moves back to campuses

Next Monday's Varsity Cup semi-finals will be played at Stellenbosch University and the University of Johannesburg.

The last four rounds of the league stage were played at Soccer City and Cape Town Stadium after protests disrupted a match between Shimlas and NMMU in Bloemfontein.

'We are extremely happy to be able to take the semi-finals and finals of Varsity Cup back to the universities,' said Varsity Cup CEO Duitser Bosman. 'Out of respect for the situation on campuses during the beginning of the year we decided to move matches to neutral venues. The Varsity Cup board today gave the green light to move matches back to campuses.

'The supporters and the 'gees' they bring is at the heart of Varsity Cup and we look forward to ending this year's tournament with thousands of fans supporting their teams , on their home grounds. The competition belongs on campus and we're happy to see it return home.'

Maties will host Tuks and UJ will host Pukke in next week's semi-finals.
