The Blitzboks won the Assupol Sevens tournament in Stellenbosch on Saturday.Coach Neil Powell’s men thrashed Zimbabwe 48-0 in the opening game on day two, eased past a Western Province Invitational side in the second, winning 45-5. They finished the day with a 34-5 win against Western Province in the final.

Powell was pleased with the effort from his side as they head into their final preparations ahead of the Olympic Games in Rio in August.

‘We achieved most of the aspects we wanted to look at,’ Powell said. The areas we worked on in training came through well. There is always room for improvement, but overall I am pleased. We still have a couple of weeks to fine-tune things and will continue to work hard in order to do so.’
