Wales rise in rankings, England drop

    Wales celebrate their win Wales
    Published on February 25, 2019 | Leave a response

Wales have climbed to third place in the World Rugby rankings following their Six Nations victory over England in Cardiff on Saturday.

The Welsh beat Eddie Jones’ side 21-13 for a record 12th consecutive Test victory. The win was worth three-quarters of a point to Warren Gatland’s side, who are on track for a Grand Slam with games against Scotland and Ireland to come.

The victory allowed Wales to jump ahead of England into third place, while the English dropped to fourth.

The only other positional change to the top 10 saw France climb from 10th to eighth after beating Scotland 27-10. France are now above both Argentina and Fiji, just nine-tenths of a point behind their beaten opponents.

    World Rugby rankings (Top 10):

    1. New Zealand 92.54
    2. Ireland 89.92
    3. Wales 88.30
    4. England 87.27
    5. South Africa 84.58
    6. Australia 82.40
    7. Scotland 79.61
    8. France  78.71
    9.  Fiji 77.95
    10. Argentina 77.05
