Beauden Barrett’s chip-and-chase try set the Blues on their way to victory as the Brumbies powered into Super Rugby’s top four with a derby win in Brisbane on Saturday.

Defending champions, the Blues continued their finals push with a 36-17 triumph over Moana Pasifika, Barrett pulling off his spectacular touchdown during a dominant first-half display at Eden Park.

Stephen Larkham’s Brumbies overcame an early 14-0 deficit to claim a 39-26 win against the Reds at Suncorp Stadium, their fourth straight win over the Queenslanders.

Rob Valetini sparked the revival with hooker Billy Pollard’s second-half double sealing the result.

In Dunedin, the Highlanders celebrated Taniela Filimone’s dream debut as the Tongan flyer’s brace helped secure a 43-20 win against the Fijian Drua.
