Former Springbok coach Jake White and the triumphant 2007 Rugby World Cup squad, captained by John Smit, were inducted into the SA Hall of Fame on Wednesday night.
Joining the ranks of the legendary 1995 World Cup-winning squad, led by Francois Pienaar, White’s men were honored in Johannesburg at the Montecasino ceremony.
The latest inductees find themselves in the illustrious company of Gary Player, Bobby Locke, and Penny Heyns.

White, currently at the helm of the Vodacom Bulls as director of rugby, masterminded the Boks’ second Webb Ellis Cup victory.
“His tactical brilliance, leadership skills, and unwavering commitment to nurturing the team’s potential are emblematic of the values that the South African Hall of Fame stands for,” a statement read.
The Springboks etched their mark into South Africa’s sporting history with a 15-6 win over England in the final hosted at the Stade de France in Paris.
Percy Montgomery, who finished as the 2007 tournament’s top points scorer with 105, slotted four out of four penalties, while then-youngster Frans Steyn added a long-range penalty.
By dotting down eight times, Bryan Habana equalled Jonah Lomu’s record for most tries in a World Cup tournament.

“Their outstanding achievements and relentless pursuit of excellence have not only left an indelible mark on South African rugby but have also united the entire country in celebration,” the statement added.
“The 2007 World Cup Springboks displayed immense courage, determination and teamwork throughout the tournament.
“Their unforgettable performance on the field not only brought joy to millions of rugby fans but also fostered a sense of national pride and unity during a pivotal moment in South Africa’s history.”
