Accumulator bet pays off big

THE MONEY MAN has turned R5,000 given to him by SARugbymag.co.za into R18,409.

For those who are serious about making money and have followed me from the outset, you’ll remember me saying that it was a long season and you had to show discipline and patience at this game as the form guide became more accurate. I believe it's becoming clearer with each passing week.

This past week was my best to date, going six out of seven on my selections, and before you point out that there were only six games, I am including my first tip that was a fun accumulator.

I did preface the last round by saying it was the most difficult in recent memory and I started with a 'fun' bet of R100 on the Blues 12/10, Highlanders 5/2, Stormers 5/2, Cheetahs 14/10 and Lions 9/10. I mentioned that any of these teams could win their prospective matches and indeed they did. That bet netted me R12,189 and the temporary feeling of being a genius. I hope others followed this tip.

Some of you Stormers fans delighted in the fact that I predicted the Waratahs would win! Folks, I only picked them in my SuperBru and I certainly bet that the Stormers would cover the spread (not lose by the 7.5 points the bookies felt they would). I also won that bet and was delighted the Stormers won, not least because I have a box at the best rugby stadium in the world, but also because I had them in my accumulator paying 5/2.

I lost the Force bet, which again I was happy about because it meant my accumulator was very much alive. My banker was the Lions and I felt the score flattered the Sharks.

For the last game, I told you to bet on the Bulls and said they would cruise past the hapless Reds. In fact, I said they would have a lead of more than the 14.5 points the bookies handicapped them. For those looking for a different bet I told you it would be a high-scoring match of 60 or more points. The bookies had the points at 50.5. In my personal capacity I also took some money there.

I started the year with R5,000 that was given to me by SARugbymag.co.za and was asked to help people make a profit. That amount now sits at R18,409, which is well over a 250% return on their investment. The key now is to continue the discipline and look to pick off the obvious games so I can continue to help you make more money.

There are some mouth-watering games this week and no prices are out yet, but here is how I would price them up:

Crusaders (-2.5) vs Chiefs (+2.5)

Hurricanes (-6.5) vs Waratahs (+6.5)

Highlanders (-8.5) vs Blues (+8.5)

Brumbies (-9.5) vs Rebels (+9.5)

Force (+2.5) vs Stormers (-2.5)

Sharks (+6.6) vs Bulls (-6.5)

Cheetahs (-9.5) vs Reds (+9.5)

These are my handicaps and are not official. You can see another potential minefield, but hey, so was last week, and we managed to get through it OK.
