Kings appoint life coach

The Southern Kings have brought in a life coach to help the squad prepare mentally for their Vodacom Super Rugby campaign.

According to Die Burger, Myan Subrayan will assist the players in dealing with the controversy surrounding the financial crisis at the union. He has previously worked with the Lions, Cheetahs, Sharks and Kings.

‘It was important that the players put last year behind them. It was important that the guys understand that this is a new year with new opportunities,' said Kings coach Deon Davids.

While the Kings have named a provisional squad with a number of other players on trial, Davids is still concerned about the lack of depth in certain positions.

‘We are not in an ideal situation, but we understand that and have to go through the process to ensure our players can compete at Super Rugby level. We’ll have a better idea of the way forward once we’ve played our friendly matches.’

The Kings play NMMU on 29 January in their first warm-up match, followed by games against the Stormers and Cheetahs.
