It is make-or-break time for Waterkloof and Monument as the northern rivals face off in their final league match of the Noordvaal Cup, which also serves as the 10th Premier Interschools derby of 2023.
Monument will host Waterkloof in Krugersdorp on Saturday in the 10th derby in this year’s Premier Interschools series, which promises to be a match of high intensity.
The match will also serve as an effective quarter-final for both teams in the Noordvaal Cup, with the three other semi-finalists – EG Jansen, Garsfontein and Helpmekaar – already confirmed.
Despite blowing hot and cold this year, Monument are the favourites coming into this match, on a two-game winning streak over Waterkloof and warming up for the clash with a massive 111-7 victory against Menlopark last weekend.
Waterkloof played fewer matches in comparison but is having a stellar season so far playing 12 matches, winning nine with two losses and a draw. They had memorable wins against Oakdale, Glenwood and Nelspruit, while only losing to a strong Garsfontein and EG Jansen.
Elsewhere, Cape Town’s southern suburbs series will resume with Bishops hosting Wynberg, while SACS are away to Rondebosch. In the big KwaZulu-Natal derby, Glenwood will look to end a tough season on a high by upsetting Maritzburg College, who are on a four-game winning run.
There are also a few mouthwatering matches in the Eastern Cape, as Selborne face Grey High, while Dale College takes on Hudson Park.
