Veteran Springbok playmaker Frans Steyn has had to undergo surgery on his injured knee, which may jeopardise his participation at this year’s World Cup.
According to a report on Netwerk24, Steyn underwent knee surgery this week after seeing a specialist for a swollen knee following a knock in last week’s victory for the Cheetahs against the Vodacom Bulls.
At this stage, according to Netwerk24, it is uncertain how long the utility back will be out of action after the arthroscopy.

Cheetahs coach Hawies Fourie was quoted in Sunday newspaper Rapport that Steyn injured the same knee that ruled the two-time World Cup winner out of the Boks’ end-of-year tour to Europe in 2022.
He was not included in a 25-man touring squad that departed for France to face French giants Toulon in the Challenge Cup round of 16 clash at Stade Mayol on Saturday.
His latest injury is also a national concern, as the 35-year-old hopes to feature for the Boks at a fourth Rugby World Cup in six months’ time in what is likely to be his swansong Test season.
