Motorists in Bloemfontein cheered for Schalk Ferreira after the veteran Cheetahs prop stepped in to deal with a nuisance in rush-hour traffic.
In a video posted on Bloemfontein radio station OFM‘s social media, the man is seen stomping on a car hood in traffic, upsetting a mother and her son.
When the situation escalated, Ferreira, who was on his way to drop his daughter off at school, intervened and dragged the man off the hood of the car.
“I just watched him and when he got on the car and started kicking,” the prop told OFM. “I read the family’s body language and saw the boy started to cry.
“At 6.45am in the morning, you don’t expect this at all – that a drunk starts banging on people’s car windows and suddenly jumps on this poor woman’s car.
“I know if it was my wife and kids, my friends would have done the exact same thing. Families are important to us. You will do anything to defend them.”
