Jake White expressed his excitement at being able to hand “one of the best Springboks” Willie le Roux a starting debut for the Vodacom Bulls on Saturday.
Le Roux will run out for his long-awaited Vodacom Bulls debut in the Vodacom URC clash with Connacht on Saturday afternoon at Loftus Versfeld.
MORE: Willie worth Jake’s bullish investment
The 34-year-old two-time World Cup winner has divided opinion during his time in the green and gold, but White has no doubt that the veteran will prove to be a hit in the Vodacom Bulls’ blue.
“I read so much on social media that people say about Willie and I can’t believe it. I can’t imagine people not rating him higher given the player he is,” White said.
“He’s only been here a week, but it feels like he’s been playing for the team for six months.
“Willie is an incredibly smart player and it’s like we have a coach [in the backline] now. He is probably one of the best players to play for the Boks so far and I can understand why he is still selected for the national team.
“I have no doubt that he will be a great asset for us.”
TEAM: Willie makes Bulls debut
Le Roux is one of three Springboks returning to action for the Vodacom Bulls on Saturday after completing their mandatory World Cup rest period.
Marco van Staden will start at openside flank, while utility back Canan Moodie will play from the bench.
“The one thing that comes to mind is just energy,” White said, when asked what he expects from his World Cup winners.
“I went with them yesterday to our Vodacom sponsor, to share their excitement and medals, and I could sense that they can’t wait to play.
“I just want them to do the thing that they enjoy the most, and that’s to play rugby.”
