The Blitzboks recovered from an error-prone first half to open their Cape Town Sevens campaign with a win over Great Britain on Saturday.
Tries from Quewin Nortje (2) and Justin Geduld gave the Springbok Sevens a 19-5 victory, after the two sides went into half-time deadlocked at 5-5.

It was a performance where the Blitzboks had to shake off a few nerves as they made a couple of uncharacteristic errors, allowing Great Britain to strike just before the break to level the scores.

However, the hosts dominated the second half through their defence and breakdown pressure, trapping Great Britain in their own territory after regaining the lead through Geduld.

A second try from Nortje, brilliantly created by captain Selvyn Davids, all but sealed the win, as the Blitzboks saw out on final attack from the visitors to get their campaign off to a solid start.
The Springbok Sevens will next take on the USA at 2.18pm on Saturday afternoon.
