The Blitzboks produced another sublime display to claim a convincing victory over the USA and progress to the Toulouse Sevens cup quarter-finals on Saturday.
Having started the Toulouse tournament with a heavy loss to France, before bouncing back in style in the rain against Fiji, South Africa had to beat the USA to secure a place in the playoffs.
The Blitzboks found their groove on attack and outscored the Americans by four tries to one to claim a 24-7 win and set up a quarter-final clash against Argentina.
A conversion from Steve Tomasin gave the USA a slim 7-5 lead at the break, with Ronald Brown running 80 metres to score South Africa’s only try in the first minute.
The Blitzboks came out firing in the second half, scoring three unanswered tries through Christie Grobbelaar, Dewald Human and Shaun Williams.
South Africa are set to face Argentina in the cup quarter-finals at 7.05pm on Saturday night.
