Springbok flyhalf Elton Jantjies has had to undergo surgery in the Western Cape this week after suffering a shoulder injury while playing for his club in Japan.
According to Sunday newspaper Rapport, Jantjies underwent surgery on Thursday and Johan Ackermann, coach of the NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes, where Jantjies plays his rugby, says the Springbok is expected to be out for between two and three months.
“He should maybe play with us again in April. . . the last few games of the season,” Ackermann said.
Jantjies suffered the injury while playing his debut match for the Red Hurricanes against the Ricoh Black Rams in Japan’s League One.
The good news for the Springboks is that Jantjies will recover in time for the first Test of the year against Wales on 2 July at Loftus Versfeld.
