The Springboks will reportedly be forced to ditch their traditional green jerseys to accommodate World Rugby’s policy for colourblind fans at the World Cup.
According to Sunday newspaper Rapport, World Rugby have brought forward a policy that opposition teams cannot both play in dark jerseys to be in effect at the World Cup.
The policy, said to have been implemented to accommodate colourblind fans, was originally approved for all World Rugby Tests from 2025 onward.

This would mean that the Springboks will play in their patchwork away jerseys – first seen in the warm-up against Argentina in Buenos Aires – in their World Cup opener against Scotland on 10 September, but they will wear the green and gold against Tonga and Romania.
In the penultimate pool clash with Ireland, the Springboks will play in white jerseys.
As for the playoffs, it would depend whether the Boks are drawn as the home or away team. If South Africa is the away team against France, New Zealand and potentially Wales, they would have to play in the turquoise jersey.
It has been confirmed that the Springboks will wear the green and gold in the final two warm-up matches against Wales in Cardiff and New Zealand at Twickenham.
