One of the Vodacom Bulls’ top performers this season has reportedly emerged as a potential target for Wales head coach Warren Gatland.
According to a report on Wales Online, the Bulls’ Cameron Hanekom – eligible to represent Wales through a grandparent – is a speculative successor for No 8 Taulupe Faletau as Gatland looks to shape the Welsh Dragons for the 2027 World Cup.
The 21-year-old Hanekom has impressed in the early rounds of the 2023-24 Vodacom URC, dominating the stats for carries and metres gained, while has also scored two tries.

Powerful on attack and relentless in defence, his physical presence at breakdowns and set pieces makes him an enticing prospect and given Wales’ loose-forward depth issues, it is believed that the former Junior Springbok might pique Gatland’s interest.
However, Wales Online reports that luring Hanekom from the Republic won’t be easy, as it is understood that he has two years left on his Bulls contract and his allegiance remains uncertain despite the bevy of SA back-row behemoths vying for Springbok honours.
