Carter comeback cut short

Dan Carter has been ruled out of Canterbury's match this weekend after picking up a knock during his comeback game.

The All Blacks flyhalf suffered a knock to his shin before leaving the field at half-time in his first appearance since breaking a bone in his leg during the Super Rugby final.

The 32-year-old was expected to recover in time for Saturday's match against the Tasman Makos, but his progress has been slow.

Canterbury coach Scott Robertson confirmed that Carter would play no part in the match, after giving him as much time as possible to prove his fitness.

'He's just got a bang on his shin and he's about 80% [fit]. We've decided to let him be 100% before he plays again,' said Robertson.
