The Cheetahs have been drawn with defending champions Leinster in Conference A for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 Pro14 seasons.
The two conferences for the next two Pro14 seasons were announced on Monday. The draw was based on last season’s finishing positions resulting in six teams swapping conferences.
Teams were ordered from one to 14 based upon their final points totals and then ranked within their union.
The result has seen the Cheetahs stay in Conference A alongside Leinster, the Glasgow Warriors and Ulster as well as the Ospreys, Dragons and Zebre.
After finishing with fewer points than the Cheetahs, the Kings have once again been placed in Conference B with Edinburgh, Munster and Connacht. They are joined by the Scarlets, Cardiff Blues and last season’s surprise package Benetton Treviso.
