• Sharks to name team on Thursday

The Sharks have been forced to postpone their team announcement until Thursday following delays in their Covid-19 test results.

Sharks head coach Sean Everitt was set to announce the match-day 23 at 11am on Wednesday to face Griquas in Kimberley on Friday. However, he has had to hold the announcement back until Thursday morning.

A statement from the Sharks read:

‘With reference to today’s planned team release and press conference, please be advised that these announcements will be postponed until tomorrow [Thursday].

‘As per the Covid-19 protocol, the team gets tested every week and due to a delay with receiving these results we are unable to release a team today.

‘The team will be released at 8:30am tomorrow with the press conference scheduled for 10:30am.’

The Sharks are currently third on the Super Rugby Unlocked log, behind the league-leading Vodacom Bulls and tied on 19 points with the second-placed Stormers.  They will need a bonus-point win against Griquas to bring themselves within a point of the Bulls, who have a bye this weekend, before the final round of the tournament next weekend.
