Du Preez trumps fellow Saffas

Jaque Fourie and Andries Bekker were superb for Kobe Kobelco Steelers against Suntory Sungoliath on Sunday, but Fourie du Preez's side came out 27-19 victors.

Kenji Shomen opened the scoring in the second Top League semi-final to put the Steelers 7-0 up, before former Wallabies flanker George Smith hit back for Suntory to level the scores.

Springbok scrumhalf Fourie du Preez was pivotal in helping set up play ahead of Kosei Ono's try to give Sungoliath a 14-7 lead.

Fellow Springboks Jaque Fourie and Bekker then linked up excellently, with Fourie showing some great touches to deliver a try for the lanky lock. The Springbok centre also bagged  a try when he followed up a brilliant kick to score under the posts to put the Steelers ahead 19-17.

Du Preez and Bekker had a battle of their own, with the Springbok scrumhalf holding up and preventing Bekker from scoring his second try.

But it wasn't to be for the Steelers, as late tries by Sungoliath's Naoki Ozawa and Shintaro Ishihara secured a spot in the final against the Panasonic Wild Knights.
