Published on November 20, 2019

Pieter-Steph du Toit scooped up three awards at the annual MyPlayers Choice Awards in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

Du Toit, who was recently crowned World Rugby Player of the Year to go with his World Cup and Rugby Championship winners’ medals in this calendar year alone, cleaned up again at the local players’ prizegiving.

At the third annual MyPlayers prize-giving, Du Toit walked away with the coveted Players’ Player of the Year prize, as voted for by his peers.

He also took home the Defender of the Year award, ahead of Bok teammates Franco Mostert, Lukhanyo Am and Damian de Allende. Du Toit’s third award was for Forward of the Year.

Scrumhalf Herschel Jantjies was the second biggest winner on the night with two awards. He won the Best off the Bench award, as well as the #LoveChange award, which is presented to the player who has made great strides in his rugby career over the past year.

Cheslin Kolbe was honoured with the Backline Player of the Year award.

Rosko Specman scooped up the Fans’ Choice award, the only award voted for by the public and secured R50,000 for his chosen charity.
