Vermeulen featured in three World Cups (2015, ’19 and ’23) that included an man-of-the-match performance against England in the 2019 RWC final.
A potent fetcher, Vermeulen was an immovable object when latched onto the ball, and the burly No 8 was a wrecking ball in the collision, on both sides of the ball.
