In a major coup for SWD Eagles, the Outeniqua-based outfit has appointed one of SA rugby’s top backline exports to its staff.
SWD Eagles on Tuesday announced that former Springbok fullback Zane Kirchner will be the new head coach of the team. The 39-year-old previously worked as an assistant coach at the Currie Cup First Division side.
He replaces Anton Moolman, who is set to take up a role at UXI Sport rugby institute as national program director after two seasons in charge of the Eagles.

The George-born Kirchner played 31 Tests, as well as making almost 90 appearances for Irish giants Leinster after representing Griquas and the Vodacom Bulls.
He also represented Welsh club Dragons and Bristol Bears in England before retiring from professional rugby in 2018.
