Four New Zealand schools will feature at next year’s World Schools Festival in Stellenbosch.
Christchurch Boys’ High and Napier Boys’ High are both back from this year’s tournament, while Southland Boys’ High, based in Invercargill, and John McGlashan College from Dunedin are new additions.
The Africa Pacific Select XV, a Barbarians-style outfit, will be far stronger this year as they will mostly include talent from New Zealand schools such as Kelston Boys’ High and Wesley College.
Also returning are Hartpury College, who act as a feeder team for Premiership side Gloucester, as well as the New South Wales Cavaliers.
Another change to this year’s tournament, with the idea of making it more competitive, will be that the USA and Italy will both be sending XVs comprised of the best schoolboy players from their respective schools, instead of sending a single school’s XV to the tournament.
A 10th overseas team will be revealed at a later stage.
New additions to the South African teams are SACS and hosts Paul Roos.
