Griquas made it back-to-back Currie Cup victories as they powered past the Griffons in Kimberley on Sunday.
It’s been a see-saw season for last year’s losing finalists, but Griquas appear to be finding some form as they followed up last week’s win against the Lions at Ellis Park by dismissing the Griffons 42-27 on Sunday.
Griquas established a commanding lead through tries from centre Tertius Kruger, scrumhalf Johan Mulder and replacement No. 8 Neil Otto, but a try from Griffons hooker Dandre Delport before half time provided some reprieve for the visitors as they jogged into the break trailing 21-8.

Tries from flanker Stephan Smit and winger Rosko Specman stretched Griquas’ lead to 35-8 early in the second half, before ill-discipline crept into their game and opened the door for the Griffons.

Yellow cards shown to Griquas prop Kudzwai Dube and Specman were promptly punished by two tries from the Griffons, with flyhalf Duan Pretorius crossing after the first card and replacement hooker HP van Schoor crashing over after the hosts went down to 13 men.
Griquas replacement flyhalf George Whitehead crossed for his side’s sixth try with five minutes to go, before Van Schoor crashed over for a consolation try and his second of the match, to wrap up a disappointing afternoon for the Griffons.
