Springbok and Vodacom Bulls wing Travis Ismaiel has agreed to join English club Harlequins for the 2019-20 Premiership season.
The 27-year-old winger joined the Bulls’ ranks in 2011 and made his Vodacom Super Rugby debut against the Sharks in 2015. Ismaiel went on to make 39 appearances in the competition, scoring 10 tries.
Ismaiel’s Test debut came against Wales in 2018, but that was his only appearance for the Boks.
Commenting on his move to Harlequins, Ismaiel said: ‘I am very excited to be joining a club like Quins with such a rich rugby history. There is a clear excitement when speaking to Paul Gustard with regard to the culture they have at the club and what they are looking to achieve over the next couple of seasons.’
‘I’m looking forward to getting to work with the boys and can’t wait to contribute to the team in any way possible. Me and my family can’t wait for this new chapter in our lives and we are looking forward to experiencing a new culture and way of living and I’m sure Quins is the right place to do that.’
Ismaiel is one of three South African players, along with lock Stephan Lewies (Lions) and prop Simon Kerrod (Worcester Warriors), to join Quins ahead of the new season.
