In a poll that went down to the wire, Tonderai Chavhanga’s six-try haul on Springbok debut fell just short of Herschel Jantjies’ bow against Australia.
Only 0.5% percent separated the two Boks, as Jantjies claimed 50.25% of the vote with the other 49.75% going to Chavhanga.

Jantjies, who comfortably upstaged Bryan Habana in the first round, remains unbeaten in the poll series.
The 26-year-old World Cup winner scored two tries on debut against Australia in 2019 and was also instrumental in the buildup to Lood de Jager’s try in the Test.
Chavhanga bagged six tries on debut when the Boks demolished Uruguay 134-3, a record that still stands for the most tries by a Springbok in a Test.
In a clash that saw 21 tries, it’s no surprise that the Springboks recorded their greatest-ever winning margin in the same match, but what is surprising is that the speedster only won three more caps for the Boks, a disappointing figure given his explosive start.
