Kings announce double signing

Jerry Sexton Jerry Sexton
Published on April 24, 2019 | Leave a response

The Kings have confirmed the signings of Jersey Reds lock Jerry Sexton and Sharks back Courtney Winnaar ahead of next season.

The 26-year-old Sexton, younger brother of Irish international Jonathan, will be joining the Port Elizabeth-based franchise as of 1 July 2019 until 30 June 2022.

Sexton is currently captain of the Jersey Reds, who compete in the English Championship, and has started in all 43 of their games since moving to the side two years ago.

He was part of the Ireland U20 side that played in the World Rugby U20 Championship in 2013 before plying his trade in the Premiership for Exeter Chiefs and London Irish.

Meanwhile, Eastern Cape-born utility back Winnaar has already linked up with the squad after signing a fortnight ago. The 22-year-old spent two years with the Sharks, mostly playing for their Rugby Challenge side, and is comfortable at flyhalf and fullback.
