Springbok and Stormers captain Siya Kolisi has been voted as the 2019 Rugby Union Writers’ Club Personality of the Year on Monday.
Kolisi won the award after over 200 of the RUWC’s members were polled ahead of their annual dinner in London.
The flank led the Boks to their first World Cup title in over a decade, causing massive celebrations back home during the team’s trophy tour.
Kolisi joins previous greats to have won the award, including Gareth Edwards, Jonah Lomu, Martin Johnson, Lawrence Dallaglio, Jonny Wilkinson and Dan Carter.
Up for the 2019 award along with Kolisi was Bok coach Rassie Erasmus, scrumhalf Faf de Klerk, Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones and Japan skipper Michael Leitch.
The winner of the Rugby Union Writers’ Club Pat Marshall award for 2020 goes to @Springboks captain Siya Kolisi.
