The Leicester Tigers have confirmed the acquisition of loose forward Jasper Wiese from the Cheetahs for the 2020-21 European season.
The 24-year-old is currently plying his trade at the Cheetahs and will see out his contract, which expires at the end of October, with the Free State Rugby Union.
Wiese previously played for the Griffons for one season before he rejoined the Free State union in 2017.
A few weeks ago, his younger brother, Cobus, confirmed he is leaving the Stormers after signing on for the Sale Sharks.
Commenting on his move to Leicester, Wiese said: ‘Leicester is a world-class club. Everybody wants to be world class and the structures are in place at Tigers for everyone to become that.
‘The move is right for me at this time and after speaking with the coaches, I felt assured in my position and excited by what I was told would be expected of me.
‘I have to bring everything to the table and I have to work hard, that was very clear to me after speaking to Steve Borthwick and Geordan Murphy.
‘My game is built around physicality, ball carrying and defence. I want to be known for what I did on the field but also remembered what I bring off the field to the club.’
