Leitch handed suspension

Chiefs No 8 Michael Leitch has been suspended for one week for a dangerous tackle during his side's 26-18 win against the Hurricanes on Friday.

The incident happened in the 77th minute of the match in Hamilton when Leitch used his shoulder to make contact with Hurricanes hooker Ricky Riccitelli's head.

Letich was yellow carded at the time, but was found to have contravened Law 10.4 (e) Dangerous Tackling, with the citing commissioner deeming the incident as meeting the red card threshold.

In his finding, Foul Play Review Committee Chairman, Hampton, ruled the following:

‘We deemed the act of foul play merited a low end entry point of two weeks. However, taking into account mitigating factors, including the player's excellent judicial record and early guilty plea, the committee reduced the suspension to one week. The player is therefore suspended up to and including Friday 17 March 2017.’

Leitch will miss the Chiefs' match against the Rebels in Melbourne on Friday.
